17 Jul 2021 : Waste data dump #
My latest waste data statistics are up on the waste page. It seems it was an unexpectedly good fortnight. Plastic was up slightly, returnables was up slightly (hot weather leads to buying more drink), but paper was down by more. I was worried about my compost this time, since I had to perform a mid-fortnight compost disposal due to smelly spring-onion waste, but in the end the weight was around average anyway. Compost with a smell more dangerous than its weight. Overall average was 154.54g per day, which is really good for me (less than both my 2019 and 2020 averages).
4 Jul 2021 : Scintillon 0.4.1 released #
Scintillon version 0.4.1 is now available. It allows Philips Hue lights to be controlled from a Sailfish OS phone. Links to the installable app and source code are on my Scintillon page. The latest version updates the translations and moves definitively to a new version number for the updated build process and aarch64 build.
4 Jul 2021 : Waste data dump #
My latest waste data is up online. This fortnight saw me hitting a respectable 174.9g of waste per day, which matches my 2020 average. We're halfway through the year and my daily average is below that, so that's a good sign (although, as I always like to note, my waste increases dramatically around Christmas time, which the period doesn't include, so things are likely to change). In terms of the breakdown, my plastic output was quite a bit up this fortnight, as were returnables, but they're both light materials, so counteracted by a slight decrease in paper. Everything else was around average.
4 Jul 2021 : GetiPlay 1.0-1 released #
A new version of GetiPlay, my app for accessing BBC radio and TV programmes on Sailfish OS, is now available. This is an exciting jump to version 1.0, which doesn't really mean anything except that it now seems pretty stable. But I have made some big internal changes. Most notably, this new version updates the underlying get_iplayer from 3.22 to 3.27. It drops the internal ffmpeg for the OS-supplied version. It also introduces lots of new build steps, so that the get_iplayer Perl dependences, and the internal AtomicParsley utility, can be built automatically. Previously I had to do this manually, which was a weekend of work for three platforms. Now it's just a few hours of work occupying my laptop rather than me. The source is available on GitHub and binaries are available on OpenRepos.
