Just in case you didn't already get your annual quota of games in 2012, I recommend the latest Humble Bundle. It's another superb game collection and Indie Game: The Movie should be required viewing for anyone into games (or anyone who wants to understand why other people are). For me, the price was worth it for the soundtracks alone. Brilliantly and unexpectedly uncynical, but only available for six more days.

For many years now I've supported SSL connections to my home server Constantia using a self-signed certificate. But this doesn't provide the seamless operation or security of a properly CA-signed certificate. I'm really pleased therefore that the site has now been upgraded to a verified certificate from StartSSL. What's more StartSSL provide these certificates entirely for free. It just took a short while to set up, and since I'm a firm believer in encrypted connections by default, I recommend you give it a go if you run your own server.

It feels like time to throw up some Christmas decorations around here. I wonder whether it'll snow this year?

As the semester draws to a close, I've updated my teaching page with details about the courses I'll be involved with and my availability times for the new semester in January. It's always good to look to the future (even if I may get distracted by Christmas in the meantime)!
